| What are Carbamide Peroxyde and Hydrogen Peroxide |
| |
There are two main active principles employed for tooth bleaching: carbamide peroxyde (consisting of hydrogen peroxyde and urea) and hydrogen peroxyde. Both of them are used, with varying percentages, for professional purposes by dentists and for home-care whitening products as well.
Carbamide Peroxide is a transparent gel based on hydrogen peroxide and urea. Once applied on the teeth, it liberates oxygen and urea, penetrating among the enamel prisms and whitening the coloured pigments.
Recent researches have stressed the safety of the teeth bleaching systems based on Carbamide Peroxide, like Smiling System, even in case of overuse.
Controls under electronic microscopes, before and after the treatment, have excluded negative effects on the superficial and the deep enamel hardness. |
